I have news, as I have in the help page / list, not found this problem (as we get in control of this group, because everything is locked for Contributors and we have no Founder).
Have I at Deviantart help written and described the problem, and wait for an answer.

Can I be member instead of a contributor? DA won't let me become a member of any other group. It always say Sorry, you are unable to join this group. You are already an administrator of ten or more groups. Please leave any other group first.
The founder is no longer on DA. I'm not really sure how to add you but you can figure out how to become a contributor let me know and I'll add you!
